Daniel Pinchbeck is an American author and journalist writing on consciousness, psychedelics, Western esotericism, ecology, technology and cultural transformation. He is the author of Breaking Open the Head (2002), 2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl (2006), How Soon Is Now (2017) and When Plants Dream (2019), and co-founder of the magazine Reality Sandwich. He publishes the newsletter and podcast Liminal News and founded The Liminal Institute. His journalism has appeared in The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Esquire, Artforum, The Village Voice, The Washington Post and Harper's Bazaar.
